Hey folks! So this past week saw Amazon Prime Day with all it’s hilarious inadequacies…but one thing I saw a lot of was Mommies loading up on the Amazon brand baby wipes for super cheap. Now, while I applaud all of you for saving some serious coin, I wanted to share with you how I have avoided spending a bundle on baby wipes since our own little one arrived…I made my own washable flannel wipes!
SUPER EASY WIPES (and burp clothes!) TUTORIAL!
Here’s what You’ll Need:
Grab a few fun yards of flannel fabric
Some leftover threads, anything will do…
A piece of cardboard measuring 8″x 6″ (or whatever size you want!) *this size will yield 25 wipes per every 2 yrds of fabric!
Lay out your fabric and trace your stencil repeatedly, covering the whole of your fabric. I rounded the edge of mine to ease in sewing the corners, but you really don’t have to.
Cut out all wipes and pin fabric facing inward…if you have two fabric styles now you can mix and match, some having the same on both sides and some different!
Stack em’ up for sewing!
Sew around the edge, keeping a space on the side for pulling right side out, to finish them off!
Pull right side out!
Finish stitching up!
Viola! Double sided, super washable, super absorbant life-saving catch-alls!
I cannot tell you how invaluable these have been in the last 8 months living in baby-town…we have them scattered all over the house! I use them for EVERYTHING, and my husband feels utterly handicapped without one in his pocket at all times!
From the random spit-up to the ever poopy diaper change (SOOOO much nicer to wipe off babies bottom because it’s absorbent and 4 times thicker than a disposable wipe, so your hand is clean and dry!) I could not live without these! And even better, I feel so much better about not trashing them as I would disposable wipes.
I also have the most amazing, simple baby wipe spray recipe that I have used since day one! So gentle!
Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap comes in several yummy scents!
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon Dr Bronner’s Liquid Castile Soap
2 drops tea tree oil
1 drop lavender oil
1 cup water
Anyone can benefit from these little gems because, if we parents know one thing, its that there is no end of laundry! I have already made a stack of these for an expectant mommy, and I think they will be my go to baby shower gift for a long time!
Now get sewing!!!
