Happy Derby Day everyone!  This is a very special Saturday post for NY family who is enjoying the majesty that is the Kentucky Derby!

This will be the first year in awhile that my husband and I are not there with everyone cheering and sitting in the blazing heat:). But to celebrate I made my mother-in-law a flower pin for her hat!
Start with cutting lots of circles of different sizes out of felt or a tough durable fabric like leather

And choose some great fabrics to represent your flowers!

Cut the flower fabrics in 1″ strips

Knot one end and hot glue to center of circle cut out

Next, twist the strip and glue in a circle

From the back

Make a little collection!

Arrange in a cluster formation and glue them together, top to bottom and end to end

My last step was to glue appliqué pins to the back, but they didn’t stay glued for long, so I ended up sewing them for extra wear and tear!

This is such and easy was to create little fabric blossoms for all types of projects!

I hope my mother-in-law enjoys her festive addition to her Derby look this year!
Happy Saturday!
